Artist Bio

I have always loved the beauty of the world around me and the people and animals in it. Connecting to nature and capturing

the moments that inspire me is what I strive to share in my paintings. Whether a landscape, still life, figure or animal I want to express the emotional response that has been stirred in me, hopefully evoking a personal response in the viewer. Primarily an animal artist I work a lot in the studio. However. plein air is a vital component in my development. I love getting outside and observing the natural world. It’s the best way I know of to really know your subject.

I grew up in upstate NY and began drawing at a young age with the encouragement of my grandmother, a self taught artist. After high school I attended Syracuse University for design and after graduation became a web designer and developer. In 2006 I decided to go back to school for my masters in Painting and Illustration at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. Since then I have been teaching art and painting full time. In graduate school I combined my love of painting with my love of horses and started focusing on painting horses in motion. I began painting thoroughbreds at Saratoga and upon moving to Maui I transitioned to painting polo ponies. Meeting my fiance, a fantastic Colorado artist, in Maui, I moved to Colorado in 2015 and I am excited to be living where beautiful landscapes, horses and wildlife are abundant sources of inspiration.
