I hope the Viewer can place one’s self in the painting and travel it, revisit the texture, colors and layers, finding their own melodies and rhythms through the painting. It is the Viewer that finishes the painting.
It is about the journey for me, releasing the paint to do it as it will, reacting rather than controlling, stepping back and letting it be about the painting rather than an image.
I have always preferred the landscape because there is so much to react to, hard surface against soft, line against pattern.
The atmosphere between me and the object, and so much information to keep or discard. It all plays into what happens on the canvas.
