Ellie Wilson

Artist Statement:

Ellie’s life as an artist started at a young age and the path to her career seemed to have happened almost effortlessly. She was born and raised in the Wasatch Mountains, which instilled a passion for nature and beauty in her. She started landscape painting when one of her professors at Brigham Young University invited her to go plein air painting. She said, “Standing in the open air with the mountains surrounding me and a brush in my hand just felt right, so I kept on plein air painting and fell in love.” When Ellie graduated with her BFA, she sold out her solo show and launched into her career as a professional landscape artist. Since, she has received awards in plein air competitions, is represented in prestigious galleries, and has been featured in popular art magazines, such as Southwest Art Magazine’s 21 Under 31 issue. In March of 2019 Ellie returned from six months of concentrated artistic study in Europe. “I think all artist should study in Europe at some point in their life. The knowledge you gain from experiencing the scenery and seeing old masterpieces in person is irreplaceable.”
Recently Ellie has moved back to the states and had a solo Europe Show showcasing her 6 months of work. She now lives in San Jose California with her husband and enjoys painting the variety that Northern California has to offer.
